Is there someone on your holiday gift list who is difficult to buy for? Instead of a traditional present, consider giving a gift of fun. Show tickets and holiday gift cards are a great alternative.

The Skagit Valley Casino Resort is offering gift cards that can be redeemed for hotel stays, dining opportunities and Pacific Showroom concert tickets. The gift cards can also be traded in at the casino cashier cage for gaming chips or slot script. Gift recipients get to choose where they’d like to spend their card.

You can purchase Skagit gift cards in person at the main cashier cage or go online or call the casino.

For a little more personal gift, consider giving tickets to one of the upcoming concerts in the Skagit’s Pacific Showroom. The venue’s setting and acoustics offer a musical experience that your gift recipient will not forget.

A great gift for you and your friends would be attending the New Year’s Eve legends tribute dinner show at 8 p.m. on Dec. 31. Tickets include party favors, a buffet dinner and a no-host bar. For more information or to buy tickets, call the casino or visit www.theskagit.com.

Upcoming entertainment includes Matt Ryan and American Dream’s “Bruce in the USA.” The show is a tribute to Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band. Both tickets and hotel packages are on sale for the two shows on Jan. 18 at 7 and 9:30 p.m.

The Pacific Showroom hosts country music songwriter, singer and pianist Phil Vassar on Jan. 24 and 25. Vassar is joined by country music newcomer Jaime Fox.

Fans of Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship or Starship might appreciate tickets to “Starship starring Mickey Thomas” at 7 and 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 8. Thomas, a Jefferson Starship band member from 1979, is also remembered for his lead vocals on the classic hit song “Fooled Around and Fell in Love.”

Award-winning country singer Lorrie Morgan comes to the Pacific Showroom for two shows on April 4. With a career spanning more than 30 years, eight top videos, 14 top-ten hits and three No. 1 hits, Morgan has quite a fan base.

Classic Rock legends Blue Oyster Cult rock The Skagit’s Pacific Showroom on May 2. Famous for their 1976 hit “Don’t Fear the Reaper,” the band is listed by VH-1 as one of the greatest hard-rock bands of all time. Buy tickets now, since they’re likely to go quickly. Hotel packages are also available.

Tickets also are available for Grammy Award-winning country music artist Pam Tillis. She’s the daughter of country music legend Mel Tillis and a star in her own right. Tillis comes to the Skagit’s Pacific Showroom on July 25. Buying tickets or hotel packages early is recommended.

If too many holiday guests get you down, don’t bother cooking. Take them to the Skagit to eat. The Market Buffet and Grille offers a great selection of both local and international specialties.

Special offerings include Wednesday’s seafood buffet and a Friday and Saturday prime rib buffet. Other buffet favorites include Sunday brunch with an omelet bar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a Saturday morning breakfast for only $7.25.
