EVERETT — The memorial for Jayme Biendl was prefaced today by remarks from one of Snohomish County’s top police officers.
Kathy Atwood, Everett police deputy chief, gave a brief introduction about what to expect Tuesday afternoon. The family took a few moments before the ceremony to collect their thoughts in private.
Law enforcement funerals draw from those used by the military, Atwood told the crowd. There are five themes: the processional, the religious invocation, five people who will share remembrances, a religious benediction and a closing recessional.
“The ceremony is steeped with tradition and honor,” she said
