An indoor swimming pool and waterslide are two of the highly anticipated features at the newly renovated and renamed Mill Creek Family YMCA.

Staff opened the facility to the public on Feb. 15. The community is invited to celebrate the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on March 13.

The Mill Creek Family YMCA is located at 13723 Puget Park Drive in Everett.

Formerly known as the Southeast Family YMCA, the renovated facility offers an additional 39,000 square feet of facility space, including a new indoor aquatics center, an area for multi-purpose activities and improvements to existing buildings.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, the community will be invited to tour the facility, participate in program demonstrations and go swimming.

Staff said the expansion and renovations will let the YMCA serve more youths and families and offer more programs, making it a neighborhood focal point.

“We are excited that we will once again be able to provide this valuable resource to our kids, families and community,” said Kyla Smith, Mill Creek YMCA executive director, in a press release. “This community has shown tremendous support for this project, and I’m thrilled that it’s coming to fruition.”

The renovated 42,000-square-foot facility offers a couple main attractions. The first, a new building to house a lobby with a fireplace, administrative offices, the aquatics center, new locker rooms, club rooms, a multipurpose room, Adventure Zone for children and outdoor courtyard. Second, the renovated buildings will feature a new cardio center and weight room, an updated teen center, improved group exercise studio and a meeting room.
