People Watching: Leadership Snohomish County exec director resigning; Bastyr University president retiring

After seven years, Sarri Gilman is resigning as executive director of Leadership Snohomish County at the close of this program year. Gilman also founded Cocoon House in Everett and served as its executive director for 10 years. In the future, she plans to see people in private practice as a therapist, will offer workshops and is publishing a book.

Tamaryn Mount, has joined RE/MAX Direct Realty at 110 4th Ave. in Edmonds. Mount brings a wealth of experience and sales expertise to the real estate industry and is looking forward to serving her clientele. She has a background in sales, customer service, administrative support, advocacy, and business ownership.

Everett Community College has two new health sciences leaders. Jason Smith is the new dean of Health Sciences and Public Safety and Kathleen Watson is the new associate dean of nursing. Both previously worked for the University of Washington – Smith as the UW’s Evans School of Public Affairs assistant dean of Student Affairs and Watson as the director of the Adults and Elders program at UW’s Center on Human Development and Disability.

After serving a decade as president of Bastyr University, Daniel K. Church has announced his retirement effective June 30, 2015. Since 2005, the university has seen unprecedented growth under his leadership. The search for a new president will begin immediately and will be conducted by the university’s Board of Trustees.
