Man killed crossing street is named

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man killed in a car-pedestrian accident over the weekend as Jeffrey T. Phelan.

The accident occurred in the 1300 block of 164th Street SW shortly before 9 p.m. April 21.

The preliminary investigation indicates Phelan was crossing 164th Street SW wearing dark clothing when he was struck by a 1992 Acura Integra traveling east, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Phelan, 54, died at the scene.

The sheriff’s Collision Investigation Unit is investigating.

Preliminary information indicates the victim was not in a marked crosswalk or intersection, sheriff’s chief Kevin Prentiss said.

Man found dead in tent is named

A man found dead in a tent in Mountlake Terrace on April 11 has been identified as Matthew J. Leathers.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office said a cause of death has yet to be determined.

He was found in a tent near Pacific Highway and 220th St. SW. He was 29.

Police are investigating but are waiting for the medical examiner to determine a cause of death, Mountlake Terrace police Cmdr. Doug Hansen said.

Robbery reported at Lynnwood bank

Police are looking for a man who wore a wide-brimmed rain hat to rob a bank April 19.

The heist happened around 10 a.m. at the Bank of Washington, located at 5901 196th St. SW in Lynnwood.

The robber fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

Along with the hat, the man was wearing black pants and a yellow windbreaker jacket with writing down the sleeves. Witnesses told police the robber was tall, white, middle-aged and clean-shaven.

Lynnwood detectives are working with other police departments in the area to determine if the same man is responsible for other recent bank robberies.

April 21: Theft Auto. 1000 block Puget Drive. Someone stole a motor vehicle from a driveway.

April 20: DUI. 900 block Puget Drive. A report of an erratic driver resulted in an arrest for DUI.

April 20: Burglary. 7700 block 220th St. SW. Someone reported an attempted burglary to a residence while the resident was home.

April 19: Suspicious Circumstances. 21700 block Chinook Road. Someone reported a suspicious man knocking on doors asking for donations for the men’s shelter.

Lynnwood

April 23: Theft. 19200 block 33rd Ave. W. Parts were stolen from a vehicle.

April 24: False Report. 19300 block 44th Ave. W. A woman was arrested and gave her sister’s name. The sister was already in custody elsewhere. The woman was booked on making false statements.

April 22: Found property. 20800 block 44th Ave. W. Several checkbooks were found on the street.

April 19: Malicious mischief. 20500 block 68th Ave. W. Someone urinated on a car door. Suspect vehicle information obtained.

April 18: Theft. 3500 block 172nd St. SW. Pruners were stolen from a vehicle.

Mountlake Terrace

April 21: Disturbance. 4900 block 216th Place SW. A father became irate with a police officer and yelled and swore at him after learning the neighbors had once again called the police on him and his quarreling family.

April 19: Domestic dispute. 4200 block 236th St. SW. An apartment resident reported hearing neighbors yelling. The neighbors, three men, admitted to an argument and claimed no physical altercation.

April 19: Trespassing. 4600 block 241st St. SW. A woman reported seeing two juvenile Hispanic males running away from the back of her neighbor’s house and leaping fences. Police searched the area and it appeared the neighbor interrupted a burglary attempt.
