After more than 50 years covering South Snohomish County, the Weekly Herald will cease publication after Aug. 29.
“The Weekly Herald staff has been creative and innovative in serving residents and businesses in Edmonds, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace,” Herald publisher and general manager David Dadisman said in a message distributed to employees. “I’m sad that we couldn’t develop a revenue model that sustained this great community journalism.”
The closure will eliminate or change 10 full-time and part-time positions in various departments of the newspaper.
The paper, formerly known as The Enterprise, first rolled off the press in 1958. The early editions covered South Snohomish County and parts of North King County.
The Herald Co. bought the paper in 1996; the name was changed to the Weekly Herald in 2011.
