Booth sits out again: Sonics center Calvin Booth sat out Friday for the second straight game with an injured right ankle, and will also sit out Sunday’s game at Washington, coach Nate McMillan said.

After Booth struggled through the first two games – including a 16-minute outing against Miami on Tuesday night in which he committed four fouls and scored zero points – McMillan said Booth needs to rest the ankle, which he injured during the last practice before the start of the regular season.

“He wanted to try,” McMillan said. “I appreciate him wanting to be out there and give what he could. But I talked to (trainer) Mike (Shimensky), and Calvin came up to him and told him it was very sore. He is very frustrated with the fact that he is not producing, and it is slowing him down. We just made the decision together that he should rest. He will sit and try to let him heal and get him better.”

Rookie Vladimir Radmanovic started in Booth’s place in Thursday’s loss to New Jersey. On Friday, McMillan went with Olumide Oyedeji, who finished with xx points and xx rebounds in xx minutes.

Booth will not be placed on the injured list, McMillan said, because he hopes Booth will be ready when the Sonics host Phoenix next Tuesday.
