Students must be held responsible

In regard to the Snohomish High School seniors who didn’t walk at graduation: I applaud the school’s decision. A harmless senior prank is one thing, but destruction of private property and grand theft auto (they didn’t have permission to have the vehicle) is worthy of this kind of punishment.

I am sure that these kids knew their actions were wrong, and when you do the crime you pay the price. It appalls me that parents are so willing to dismiss the actions of their children because they are seniors. I can imagine each and every one of them would seek the highest penalty had their gates been chain-locked, their locks had been super glued, dead animals were in their yard and their car had been stolen. Wake up, parents, and make your young adult responsible for their actions. They chose to take the risk and they need to pay the price. I pat the one student on the back for his acceptance of responsibility.
