Groups receive community impact funds from Tulalip Tribes

TULALIP – The Tulalip Tribes have distributed $479,000 in community impact funds for the first quarter of 2004.
Under the Tulalips’ gaming compact with the state, the tribe distributes money to programs connected to health, safety, welfare, public peace and education that directly benefit the community.
Groups may be granted money only once each year.
The recipients this quarter are:
* The Tulalip Tribes’ tribal member home computer program, $125,000.
* The University of Washington Law School (public defenders for tribal members), $100,000.
* Tulalip Elders Program (two handicapped-accessible vans), $79,000.
* The Children’s Museum of Snohomish County, $25,000.
* Church of God building fund, $17,000.
* Problem Gambling, $12,500.
* United Way’s Success by Six Initiative, United Indians of All Tribes, Lutheran Community Services NW, Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians, Western Washington University, Seattle Urban League, Minority Executive Director’s Coalition, Tulalip Boys &Girls Club, $10,000 each.
* Salmon Homecoming Alliance, $7,000.
* St. Vincent de Paul of Snohomish County, Seattle Indian Services Commission, Immaculate Conception Regional School, Leading Edge Gymnastics, $5,000 each.
* Committee for Citizens Awareness (Gaming Awareness Media), $3,500.
* Muscular Dystrophy Association, $3,000.
* Wing Luke Memorial Foundation, Skykomish Valley Indian Parent Organization, Young Life of North Snohomish County, $2,500 each.
* Edmonds Community College, $2,000.
* Tulalip Cultural Resources (ethnobotany class supplies), $1,500.
* American Red Cross of Snohomish County, $1,000.
