David Seidman broke the Guinness Book of Records for most miles per gallon (103.36) under power in a boat last August. Seidman acquired a main hull from Pocock Racing Shells in Everett. He converted the shell to an outrigger canoe and outfitted it with a slightly modified stock 2 hp Honda outboard mounted on the after crossbeam.

United Way of Snohomish County has chosen Comcast as its broadcast media partner. This partnership will provide funding for the launch of a new Web site dedicated to helping parents, in support of United Way’s Success by 6 early childhood initiative. Included, is the donation of production to create public service announcements for the United Way of Snohomish County as well as the donation of thousands of dollars of free airtime for those announcements to run throughout the year.
Washington state college students majoring in communications-related fields are encouraged to apply for scholarships being offered through the Seattle Professional Chapter of The Association for Women in Communications. The chapter will award two $1,500 scholarships to students enrolled in communications programs during the 2005-06 academic year.
