Some are trying to tear country apart

I give Gov. Christine Gregoire credit for condoning the revolt and protesting going on in Seattle against the Republican president recently. Some people would rather see us lose face internationally than admit that many of the countries we have gone to war with are now free and prosperous democracies.

The plain facts are that Saddam Hussein not only had but used weapons of mass destruction on foreigners and on his own countrymen. He filled mass graves with hundreds of thousands of people, invaded three countries and dropped missiles on Israel. He repeatedly and consistently violated United Nations sanctions, gave refuge to the killers of American Leon Klinghoffer and paid families of suicide bombers in Israel.

The civilized world could not permit a man like Hussein to continue in power. The American people agreed by their vote on Nov. 2. There is a group of people in America with a mindset that “America is what is wrong with the world.” They’ve been around since the 1960s and caused us to fail in Vietnam by tearing our nation apart on the inside. They are trying to tear us apart again and use the failure in Vietnam as an excuse to hide their yellow streak. They say we should just be peaceful. Well, gentle peace will not come without a struggle. Please support our struggle in Iraq.
