2005 season highlights: Peacocke led a team that frequently had three freshmen and three sophomores in its starting lineup to the Class 4A state tournament and a 17-9 overall record. Expected to finish in the middle of the Western Conference South Division, Everett started the season 5-5 but won nine of its last 10 regular-season games to soar into the district tournament.

Comment: The turning point in Everett’s season, Peacocke said, was a 7-5 victory over the Shorecrest Scots on April 22. The Seagulls trailed twice in that game and were without senior captain Jennifer Luatua.

“I think that game kind of solidified in the team’s mind that they could compete with anybody,” Peacocke said.

Qualifying for state was “totally unexpected but very enjoyable” and Peacocke said he loved watching his young players gain confidence.

“This year was the most rewarding that I’ve had,” he said.

Bio: This was Peacocke’s sixth season as Everett’s head coach and his eighth with the program. His career head coaching record is 97-51. He also guided Everett to state in 2001 (3A) and 2003 (4A). Peacocke played football and ran track at Juanita High School in Kirkland before earning an undergraduate degree at the University of Washington and a teaching certificate at Seattle Pacific University.
