Suzanne Hansen, author of “You’ll Never Nanny in This Town Again,” will talk about what it’s like to be a nanny to the stars’ children at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Third Place Books. Hansen was a mouse in the corner of many famous households, including those of Michael Ovitz, Debra Winger and Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman.

Northwest author Clyde Ford will sign his second Charlie Noble mystery, “Precious Cargo,” at noon Saturday at Seattle Mystery Bookshop. “Precious Cargo” is set in the San Juan Islands, as was Ford’s first book in the series, as Noble continues to work his way up the Inside Passage.

Humorist Dave Barry will read from and sign his latest book, “Dave Barry’s Money Secrets – Like: Why Is There a Giant Eyeball on the Dollar,” at 2 p.m. January 29 at Town Hall Seattle. Admission is $5. Or you can catch Barry for free at 7 p.m. January 30 at Third Place Books.
