If not just any gift will do, try unique artwork

If you are having trouble finding that special gift, perhaps a stroll through the Holiday Art Gallery tour Saturday in Everett will help.
Each gallery on the tour features regional artists. Refreshments will be served at most participating galleries during the tour, from 5 to 8 p.m.:
Anabel’s Framing Gallery, 2531 Broadway, Everett, 425-258-6402. Featured artists are Teri Shinn, Janet Hamilton, Doug Gemmell, Cheryl Hufnagel and Geoffrey Crowfoot.
Byron Bratt Art Studio, 2903 Hewitt Ave., Everett, 425-252-3033. Bratt will have his mezzotint masterpieces on display. Mezzotint is like a form of engraving in which Bratt uses all hand tools on a copper plate that is inked up, printed onto paper and then hand colored. These are limited-edition prints, not reproductions.
Lowell Art Works, 5205 S. Second Ave., Everett, 425-923-3635. The gallery features the work of Cheri O’Brien, Jules Anslow, Lisa Spreacker, Janet Foley, Kim Groff-Harrington and more.
Solovei Art Gallery, 2804 Grand Ave., Everett, 425-501-2448. The gallery has mixed-media artist Gale Johansen on display.
WiseDesignz, 2908 Wetmore Ave., Everett, 425-259-2361, wisedesignz.com. The gallery is featuring Shannon Danks, Eido, Randall J. Hodges and Liam Robinson.
Artist Richard Armstrong is showing his work at Meyers Cafe, 1700 W. Marine View Drive, Everett, through December.
Armstrong was born in Yakima and raised in Everett. He majored in industrial design at the University of Washington and has gone on to produce art for 30 years, including commissions from Seattle; Vancouver, Wash.; and the parks departments in Sacramento, Calif., as well as private individuals, according to his bio.
“I am influenced more and more by abstract work, the theory of color by Goethe and Steiner, and by the Surrealist movement, whose manifesto was to awaken the consciousness of the viewer,” Armstrong said in a written statement about his show.
“Imagination Holds No Limits” is the title of Everett artist Wendy Chauteau’s exhibit at Kaladi Coffee, 511 E. Pike St., Seattle. Her paintings are showing through January.
Artist Catherine Vines will be showing her work at Uncle Elizabeth’s, 1123 Pike St., Seattle, through January.
Her work has been described as figurative with realistic details in an abstract setting.
At Form/Space Atelier, 1907 Second Ave., Seattle, www.formspaceatelier.com, has a group show through December featuring smaller paintings. None is larger than 24 by 24 inches, and all are priced under $400. Featured artists include Shannon Danks and Eido.
Lisa Spreacker and Paula Rey are displaying colorful fused glass mirrors and collages in the little gallery space at Spreacker’s Mukilteo home. Also on display are Rey’s jeweled mirrors. Many of these art and found object pieces cost less than $200.
