Venoy Overton,

Franklin

Can Franklin win it all again? As long as Overton, a senior guard who committed to USC, is on the court, it’s unwise to doubt the Quakers, whose two losses this season came against national powers Lake Oswego (Ore.) and Jesuit (Calif.). The 6-1 Overton piles up 22 points, 5.7 assists and 3.0 steals per contest.

Terrell Smith,

Federal Way

Talk about heating up at the right time. Smith, a 6-5 senior guard, has scored 72 points over his past two games. The University of the Pacific recruit has scored 30 points or more in a game seven times this season, including a 44-point eruption Dec. 12 in a 119-47 romp over Kent-Meridian.

DeAngelo Casto,

Ferris

Casto’s teammate, fellow forward Jared Karstetter, was the Greater Spokane League MVP, but Casto’s all-around impact is huge. The 6-8 junior is a first-team all-league honoree who contributes 15 points, 11 rebounds, and five blocks per game for unbeaten Ferris (25-0), ranked No. 2 by WashingtonPreps.com.

Darious Walker,

Decatur

One of several key players on a balanced, talented 23-2 squad, Walker is a 6-5 senior post who leads Decatur in rebounding (eight per game). Along with teammate Marcus Tibbs, Walker (15.6 ppg) has spearheaded the team’s 11-game winning streak. Walker scored a team-high 18 points Saturday in Decatur’s victory over Bethel in the District 3 title game.

Aaron Dotson,

Garfield

Garfield started the season with losses in six of its first nine games. But Dotson, a 6-3 sophomore guard/forward, averaged 20.2 points over a late-season, six-game victory streak that propelled the traditionally brilliant Bulldogs into the state tourney for the first time since 2002.
