Railroad gates create long wait for ferry riders

EDMONDS – Railroad safety gates created a 90-minute delay for drivers trying to get on to a ferry at Edmonds during the Monday evening commute, reports said.
Washington State Ferries issued a warning to riders at 4:17 p.m. Monday to expect delays because safety gates along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway tracks wouldn’t open.
The gates were fixed about 5 p.m., according to a rider alert.
Traffic was routed around the gates until they were repaired, said Meghan Soptich, a state Department of Transportation spokeswoman.
Traffic cameras along Highway 104 leading to the ferry terminal showed cars backed up for miles while the gates were closed.
Everett: Three-car crash leaves two injured
Two people were hurt early Monday afternoon in a three-car crash near the intersection of 112th Street SW and Airport Way, officials said.
Two pickups collided with a sport utility vehicle about 1:15 p.m., Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.
A man got out of his pickup and collapsed, she said. Firefighters had to rescue a woman from the SUV. Both people were taken to Providence Everett Medical Center Colby Campus with what rescue crews believed were nonlife-threatening injuries, Hynes said.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office is investing the crash.
Truck runs into side of mini-mart, breaks pipes
A truck drove into a mini-mart in the 1300 block of 112th Street SW Monday morning, breaking pipes and causing water to spray all over the place, officials said.
At about 8:09 a.m., a Ford pickup ran into the side of an AM/PM store and then took off, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
The truck buckled a wall of the store, she said. No injuries were reported.
The crash is under investigation.
Monroe: Motorcyclist hurt after going off road
A motorcycle driver was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Monday afternoon after the bike went off the road, officials said.
The driver apparently lost control of the bike about 2:40 p.m. and left High Bridge Road in the 15000 block, Snohomish County Fire District 3 spokeswoman Audrey Duncan said.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
