50 years ago (1957)
Bernice Carpenter was named manager of the Anita Shop, 2801 Colby Ave., Everett. David Schulman of Anita Shops made the announcement. Mrs. Carpenter was well known in the women’s apparel field in Everett, having been associated with several other local firms the past 13 years.
The Lake Stevens Garden Club was to meet tomorrow at the home of Elsie Dupee. Members were reminded to bring African violets they had been nurturing.
25 years ago (1982)
Winners of surprise packages for the most neatly prepared correct entries in the “Fill the Balloon” puzzle contest were published in the Young Hobby Club department. The winners were Louella Lopez, Tina Delisle, Keith Delisle, Pete Riebe, Janine Joly, Kristie Moore, Bryan Williford and Lisa Wright.
Construction of the Puget Park Center, a Everett neighborhood shopping center, was under way. Located near I-5 at Fourth Avenue W. and 128th Street SW, an Albertson’s grocery store would fill about half the center’s 93,000 square feet.
