Everett Explosion runs away with 139-71 win

MONROE – The Everett Explosion opened up a 17-point lead after one quarter and continued to pull away the rest of the game, beating the Snohomish County All-Stars 139-71 in a Saturday night preseason game at Monroe High School.

The Explosion had five players score in double figures, led by Rashaad Powell, who had a 27 points to go with 16 rebounds (both game highs) and six assists. Powell was 10-for-18 from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers.

All 15 Everett players scored in the game.The victory improved the Explosion’s exhibition record to 3-0.

Everett, which opens its International Basketball League regular season with an April 7 road game against Lewis County, finished with a decisive 64-38 rebounding margin and added 20 steals, but alsocommitted 30 turnovers.

The Explosion opens its regular-season home schedule on April 10 with a game against the Vancouver Volcanoes at the Everett Events Center.
