Arlington
Run for charity on Saturday
The Arlington Runners Club plans to play host to 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer charity runs Saturday at Pioneer Elementary School, 8213 Eaglefield Drive.
Registration is scheduled from 8 to 9:45 a.m., with the race starting at 10 a.m. The race begins and ends at the school and winds through the Gleneagle community.
Registration is $20 and includes a T-shirt. Proceeds benefit Arlington Dollars for Scholars.

Edmonds
Science show at library
The Edmonds Library is planning to kick off its summer reading programs with a show by the Pacific Science Center of Seattle.
The event, for children 5 and older, is scheduled for 2 p.m. June 27 at the library, 650 Main St. in Edmonds.
The show is interactive and features several surprising experiments. It is funded by Friends of the Edmonds Library.

Everett
School auction is for Challenge Day
Henry M. Jackson High School plans silent and live auctions Monday to help raise funds to bring Challenge Day to its students in the fall.
Challenge Day is a daylong program that aims to break down barriers and cut down on drug and alcohol abuse, absenteeism, bullying, and violence.
The auction is to be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the commons. State Rep. John Lovick, D-Mill Creek, will be the host of the live auction.
A preview of Challenge Day will be given. Dessert and beverages also will be provided.
Race Unity Day at Everett college
The Interfaith Association of Northwest Washington plans to help host a Race Unity Day potluck lunch from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Everett Community College, 2000 Tower St., Everett.
The Race Unity Day potluck lunch celebration is planned for Sunday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Jackson Hall at Everett Community College.
Race Unity Day was created by the National Baha’i Community.

Island County
Library opening set for June 29
After months of planning, the new Camano Island pilot library is scheduled to open at 10 a.m. on June 29. The temporary library is at 848 Sunrise Blvd. in Terry’s Corner.
The library is a three-year pilot project that will establish the first public library on Camano Island. It was initiated as a way to test interest for a permanent library on the island.
A dedication ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on June 29. Thereafter, the library is scheduled to be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The library will be run by Sno-Isle Libraries, which has several libraries in Snohomish and Island counties.
Lake Stevens
Support center seeks volunteers
The Lake Stevens Family Support Center needs volunteers to assist with a variety of jobs.
Types of duties include clerical, reception, program facilitation, special-event planning and committee work, as well as help with the child program.

Family fun night planned at library
Families are invited for an evening of fun and games at the Lynnwood Library.
The event, called Family Fun-Get Playful, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the library at 19200 44th Ave. W. The library will supply board games for participants.

City offers dog obedience class
The Marysville Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a dog obedience class from June 19 through Aug. 7.
The Canine Behavior Center Dog Obedience course includes eight one-hour obedience classes with owners and their dog. Dogs must be at least 4 months old.
All of the basic obedience commands are covered over the course of the class. All dogs must be fully immunized for their age.
Classes are held from 6 to 7 p.m. at Jones &Company Pets, 1336 State Ave. The cost is $110. For more information, go to www.caninebcenter.com.

Mill Creek
Musical program teaches rhyming
Children who are learning to read are invited to a musical education program being planned for the Mill Creek Library.
The event, Rhyme Time with Nancy Stewart, is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. July 3 at the library, 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway.
At the event, children sing, dance and play with words that rhyme. The event is intended for children and their families.

Free class helps people land jobs
Pathways to Work through the YWCA plans a free employment support class from Wednesday to June 26 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Monroe.
The class is for those who need to re-enter the workforce because of divorce, separation, death or disability of a spouse, or loss of welfare.

Open Mic Night in Old Town
Musicians and performing artists are invited to Open Mic Night in Old Town Mukilteo.
The events, which are free and open to the public, are scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at Whidbey’s Coffee, 619 Fourth St.
Open Mic Night is sponsored by the Mukilteo ARTS Guild. Performances are wide-ranging: bluegrass, rock, poetry readings and more.

Gallery features new show
The Arts of Snohomish Gallery presents “Melted,” a free art exhibit, throughout June. The gallery is at 105 Cedar Ave. and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Parking and admission are free.
The exhibit features a “waxy world of viscous abstract expressionism,” according to its organizers. Arts of Snohomish artist Karon Leigh, and guest artists Shari Osti and Wendy Lee Lynds, invite people to see encaustic 2D mixed media art work, 3D sculpture, printmaking and more.
