50 years ago (1982)

Bob Keuhn, president of the Everett Accelerators, a club of Hot Rod enthusiasts, and Everett traffic Capt. John Olson, the club’s adviser, admired the trophy presented to the group this week by the Western Washington Timing Association naming the Accelerators the Club of the Year.

The City Summer Recreation program would hold conditioning classes for junior high school and high school age youngsters at Memorial Stadium. Dick Abrams, assistant Everett High School football coach, was in charge of the classes.

25 years ago (1982)

An ordinance annexing 35 acres southwest of the Everett Mall was approved by the Everett City Council. Known as the Duggan Annexation, the new city land was in the vicinity of Third Avenue SE and 197th Place SE. The council earlier set the zoning as single-family residential with an open space corridor along North Creek.
