Shoreline CC hosting Thanksgiving hoops tournament

This weekend’s Thanksgiving tournament hosted by Shoreline Community College could provide a preview of how the NWAACC Northern Region women’s basketball race will play out.
Eight of the division’s nine teams will take part in the three-day, double-elimination tournament, which gets underway this afternoon.
Shoreline faces Edmonds at 8 p.m. tonight in the season opener for both teams. The winner advances to meet the winner of Whatcom/Bellevue tomorrow.
Today’s slate of first-round matchups with last year’s league and overall records in parentheses are as follows:
Everett (11-5, 19-13) vs. Peninsula (4-12, 6-20), 2 p.m.; Olympic (4-12, 7-20) vs. Seattle (9-7, 15-16), 4 p.m.; Whatcom (14-2, 27-4) vs. Bellevue (2-14, 5-21), 6 p.m.; Edmonds (9-7, 13-16) vs. Shoreline (5-11, 10-16), 8 p.m.
Semifinal games are scheduled for 6 and 8 p.m. Nov. 23 and the championship game is set for 4 p.m. Nov. 24.
Tournament passes are $14 for adults, $12 for students and seniors; day passes are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors; single game tickets are $4 for adults and $3 for students and seniors. Children 12-and-under get in free.
