Scots go 1-2 at state 3A tourney
The Shorecrest volleyball team won its first match of the 3A state volleyball tournament but lost its next two and got knocked out on Nov. 20.
The Scots beat Auburn-Mountainview 25-19, 25-11, 21-25, 25-23 in the opening round at the Toyota Center in Kennewick and moved on to face Lakes in the quarterfinals. Lakes outlasted the Scots 22-25, 25-12, 21-25, 25-18, 19-17 to move on to the semifinals.
Shorecrest dropped into the consolation bracket against Mt. Spokane and lost in three games, 30-28, 25-20, 25-12.
Shadle Park beat Eastside Catholic 25-18, 25-16, 25-19 for the 3A title.
Shorecrest placed third in 2006 and fourth in 2007.
Shorewood football honored for sportsmanship
The Shorewood football team earned a sportsmanship award from the Pacific Northwest Football Officials Association Senior linebacker Peter Huynh received a $500 college scholarship as well.
