Signs of spring: Yes, it’s been rainy, wet and cold. You might get in the gardening spirit at the 14th annual Garden Faire from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 4 at Stanwood Camano Fairgrounds at 64th Avenue NW and Pioneer Highway.
This free event features specialty nurseries, artists, outdoor living vendors, workshops, drawings, baked goods and hot soup for lunch. See www.gardenfaire.com or call 360-652-5708.
Grants for gardens: Community gardens are popping up all across Snohomish County this spring. The Snohomish County Master Gardener Foundation hopes to help in that effort. Last year the nonprofit group set aside $10,000 to give away as grants of $500 and $1,000 to go toward tools, seeds, plants and planting materials for local community gardens, new or existing.
Any community garden, civic or garden club, school or nonprofit agency in Snohomish County is eligible. Requests should be submitted at least three months before funding is needed. Funds will be offered while they last. Applications are available at snomgf.org/Grants.aspx and at the extension office at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. Call 425-357-6010 with questions.
