SPANAWAY — A 55-year-old pickup truck driver is dead after a collision with a Stryker vehicle from Fort Lewis on Washington Route 507 near Spanaway.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Brandy Kessler says two Fort Lewis-based Strykers were stopped at an intersection Tuesday afternoon. The first turned onto the highway, and as the second was entering the roadway, it collided with the side of a red Ford F-150.

Four soldiers inside the Stryker were not injured.

Fort Lewis spokesman David Kuhns says Stryker vehicles often use public roads. Trooper Kessler says the highway was closed for about three hours.
