$67 million for state in grants for ports, services

OLYMPIA — Federal grants and stimulus money announced Wednesday will put $67 million into programs in Washington.

Sen. Patty Murray says state ports will receive $30.3 million for security, including chemical detectors, cameras and gates.

Gov. Chris Gregoire say $27 million in federal stimulus grants will be distributed through the state Employment Security Department to provide financial assistance, training and job services to low-income and dislocated workers.

The Department of Social and Health Services says a $10.4 million federal stimulus grant will provide counseling and training to disabled workers.
