Bloody cap leads to arrest in Tacoma cab slaying

TACOMA — A bloody cap with “The Keg” printed on it helped police make an arrest in the slaying of a Tacoma cab driver.

The cap was a Christmas gift to employees of a restaurant where the suspect once worked as a dishwasher.

Blood on the cap matched the driver whose throat was slashed. Investigators expect DNA tests on a hair in the cap will link the defendant to the crime.

The News Tribune of Tacoma reports a plea of not guilty was entered Tuesday in Pierce County Superior Court for 31-year-old Jaycee Fuller.

He’s accused of killing the 22-year-old driver, Mohamud Ahmed of Renton, in a March 8 robbery. Ahmed was a refugee from Somalia.

Fuller told police he no longer owned a Keg hat and was home at the time of the slaying.
