Join a climate conversation

In honor of Earth Day 2009, the city of Edmonds and Sustainable Edmonds are hosting a National Conversation on Climate Action from 6 to 9 p.m. on April 22 at Edmonds City Hall.
Local electeds, city of Edmonds staff, the mayor’s Climate Protection Committee and members of Sustainable Edmonds will gather with interested citizens to brainstorm ways of affecting local change.
Participants will listen to several speakers, then gather in breakout sessions to talk about their ideas for igniting interest among citizens for increasing their energy efficiency and creating a more “green” Edmonds.

The National Conversation on Climate Action is supported by the American Planning Association, National League of Cities, Sierra Club, the US Green Building Council and many other prominent organizations.
Nominate an outstanding youth
Help recognize the outstanding youth whose contributions usually do not make the headlines but probably should. Nominate a seventh to 12th grade Snohomish County youth for a Youth Challenge Award by April 6. Recipients will be recognized for their community service, courage, creativity, environmental service, inspiration or leadership.
Online nomination forms are available at www.youthchallengeawards.com. The Youth Challenge Awards are presented by the Lynnwood Rotary Club.
Seattle Sounders FC defender Taylor Graham will be the guest speaker at the Youth Challenge Awards Ceremony at 7 p.m. on May 7 at the Triton Union Building at Edmonds Community College. For more information about the Youth Challenge Awards, call Mike Neumeister at 425-774-3022.
