Powerful drug is not benign

Marijuana should not be legalized. It is a powerful narcotic that has become foolishly accepted as a benign, recreational drug. Although not found to be physiological addicting, it eventually causes powerful psychological cravings and becomes habit forming. It is as bad for the respiratory system as tobacco is.

With all of society’s troubles, marijuana can do nothing to help. Drugs can only camouflage our problems, dull our senses and close our minds.

Marijuana’s legalization will adversely affect those who are poor and mentally ill. For the young, especially teenagers, it will promulgate a greater enticement than for alcohol and another alluring invitation for artificial happiness.
