Track and field: Hall of Fame Meet will honor Lynnwood coach Duane Lewis

In honor of Lynnwood High School coach Duane Lewis, the track and field meet set for 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Lake Stevens High has been dubbed the Hall of Fame Meet. The meet will feature teams from Lynnwood, Lake Stevens, Jackson and Granite Falls.

In January Lynnwood’s Lewis was inducted into the Washington State Track and Field Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Lake Stevens coach Jeff Page (Lynnwood Class of 1973) and Jackson coach Eric Hruschka (Lynnwood ’84) both were coached by Lewis.

The connections in this meet go back even further: Granite Falls coach Ernie Goshorn coached with Lewis at Lynnwood from 1971 to 2001. Before that, Goshorn and Lewis were teammates at Seattle Pacific University.

Page, Lake Stevens’ coach, said in an e-mail that he is looking forward to the meet, which will serve as a Lynnwood reunion: “We’ll be doing a little ceremony during the meet and getting a picture, something like that, then we’re all going out to dinner after to relive old times.”
