Tilapia recipe could earn you a cash prize

Do you have a knack for cooking creatively — and frugally — with tilapia?

Florida-based Regal Springs Tilapia, a major producer of the mild-tasting, low-fat, cost- conscious white fish, is searching for family-friendly meals by holding a contest.

Six finalists in the recipe contest, open to ages 18 and older, will receive cash prizes, $5,000 for a grand prize winner and $150 each for the runner-up contestants.

Recipes must be original and meals must include a tilapia entree, a vegetable and a salad or fruit dish to feed a family of four.

Meals can cost no more than $15.

Judges will award contestants’ creativity, ingredient choices and thoroughness of recipe instructions.

Entries will be accepted through Aug. 1. Winners will be announced by Sept. 1.
