This photo released by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation shows music producer Phil Spector on June 5 in prison in Kern County, Calif.

Spector is serving a 19-year sentence for the second-degree murder of actress Lana Clarkson.

“He’s locked in a 5-by-9-foot cell, 23 1/2 hours a day,” his wife Rachelle Spector said. “They treat people worse than animals.”

Under the terms of his sentence, Spector will not come up for parole until 2028.
