GOP would like to restore republic

Regarding the June 12 letter, “U.S. is a republic, not a democracy”: The writer seems to be confused. The conservatives and Rush Limbaugh are trying to restore the republic while the Democrats are trying to turn America into a socialist state.

Norman Matton Thomas was a leading American socialist, pacifist and six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America. He said, in a 1944 epoch speech, “The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of “liberalism,” they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without knowing how it happened.” He went on to say: “I no longer need to run as a presidential candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform.”

Obama’s campaign promise was he would turn the U.S. into a socialist state. He spoke often of “redistributing the wealth” and reinforced it by stating, “My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.”

On Nov. 19, Rahm Emanuel informed America that Obama would use Hegel’s dialectic to force socialism on America. There are three parts to this: 1) Create a crisis, or use one if available, 2) magnify the crisis all out of proportion by saying if the programs are not implemented immediately, it will be catastrophic for the country and 3) once the citizens are frightened into acceptance, implement your socialist programs as quickly as possible.
