Tacoma News Tribune Week 2 football rankings: Archbishop Murphy No. 1 in 2A

It was definitely a fun first weekend of prep football.

On Friday — opening night for local teams — I watched Jackson bounce back from a rough start and wallop Stanwood. That was an entertaining game, but I wish I could have also seen the Glacier Peak-Arlington showdown. The Grizzlies’ 52-51 overtime victory created tons of buzz. Fans at that one sure got their money’s worth. C’mon, 103 points in a season opener? Are you serious? Incredible.

Following the first weekend of games, the Tacoma News Tribune shuffled its rankings a bit. Here are links to each classification. The big news is that Archbishop Murphy soared to the No. 1 slot in 2A after thumping previously top-ranked Lynden on Saturday at Qwest Field in the 2009 Emerald City Kickoff Classic.
