The 31st Annual Arts of the Terrace Juried Art Show is set for Sept. 26 through Oct. 3, 2009 at the Mountlake Terrace Library.

Sponsored by the Mountlake Terrace Arts Commission and the Friends of the Arts, Arts of the Terrace is one of the major juried art shows hosted in the Pacific Northwest and attracts top artists from throughout the region. Awards will be presented at the Sponsors’ and Artists’ Reception taking place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 at the library.

This year 84 artists submitted over 240 entries to compete for more than $3,000 in cash awards and art merchandise. The show’s four categories — Paintings, Prints and Drawings, Miniatures, Photography and 3 Dimensional — each offer first, second and third place cash prizes and ribbons are awarded for Honorable Mentions. A Best of Show award is selected by the Mountlake Terrace Arts Commission, and a People’s Choice Award and Children’s Choice Award are selected by popular vote and awarded at the end of the art show.

Jurors include 2008 Arts of the Terrace first place winner, pastel artist Janis Graves, for Paintings, Prints, Drawings and Miniatures; 2008 second place winner, photographer Thomas A. Sawtell, for photography; and porcelain sculptor Loren Lukins for 3-Dimensional works.

The show is free and open to the public.
