Cherishing all that matters most

I would like to thank Kaitlin Manry, Mark Mulligan, and The Herald for all of their hard work and for taking such an interest in my story. (Sunday article, “Marysville student’s drive for college and a better future.”)

I would just like to add that the infrequent experiences I spent with my real mom, meaning the rare flashes of who my mom really was when she was clean and sober, were great times I can look back on and cherish. She loved to do crafts at Christmas and she liked to color and cook and watch movies with her kids. When times were good, though perhaps few and far between, they were really good.

My mom made many mistakes, but no one can begin to punish her as much as she punished herself. God rest her soul now that she, finally and at long last, is at peace. Enormous thanks to all who have wished my family and me well, for all your thoughts and prayers, and God bless.
