Anniversaries
Butler
Gloria and Martin “Bud” Butler of Marysville celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Sept. 30.
They were married Sept. 30, 1949, in Sedro-Woolley.
The couple lived in Darrington and in Sedro-Woolley during the first five years of their marriage. Bud was a logger, and Gloria was a nurse. They moved to Marysville after their son and daughter were born.
Bud worked for Scott Paper Company for more than 32 years before he retired. Gloria worked for Havenwood Nursing Home, Providence Hospital and Visiting Nurses before she retired.
The couple have one son, Dave, and his wife, Audrey, and one daughter, Linda, and her companion Buddy. Other family members include one goddaughter, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Carlson
Susan and Joel Carlson of Camano Island will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday.
They plan to celebrate on the day while attending the annual convention of the International Association of Chiefs of Police in Denver, Col. A few days later, they will join their four children: Dianna Kestler of Irving, Texas; Daniel Carlson of Long Beach, Calif.; Karwynn Albillar of Chicago, Ill.; and Mary Walker of Albuquerque, N.M. and friends in Albuquerque for a celebration. The couple has seven grandchildren.
They were married at Trinity Episcopal Church in Everett on Oct. 2, 1959. They have resided in Phoenix, Cheyenne, Boston, Washington, D.C., Albuquerque, Louisville and Las Vegas.
Joel volunteers as on call chaplain for the Camano/Stanwood Fire Department and at Skagit Valley Hospital. They are members of the Fir Conway Lutheran Church in Conway.
Engagement
Wolfe-Roberts
Lacey Wolfe and Craig Roberts of Durham, N.C. are planning a fall 2010 wedding.
The parents of the bride are Ranelle and Todd Wolfe of Snohomish. The parents of the groom are Barb and Rusty Roberts of West Palm Beach, Fla.
Wolfe recently received her masters degree in city and regional planning from the University of North Carolina. Roberts is a neuroscientist at Duke University.
