EDMONDS — Police on Wednesday nabbed a suspected jewelry store robber.

The man reportedly walked into Cline Custom Jewelers in the 23600 block of Highway 99 around noon, displayed a handgun tucked into his waistband and demanded jewelry, Edmonds police Sgt. Don Anderson said.

The man ran toward Edmonds Way but was arrested minutes later by an Edmonds officer. The gun turned out to be a toy.

Investigators found a suspicious package at the store, likely left behind by the suspect, Anderson said. A bomb technician was called to examine the package. Nearby stores were evacuated as a precaution.
