OLYMPIA — U.S. Sen. Patty Murray and Rep. Rick Larsen want another aircraft carrier stationed in Everett after the USS Abraham Lincoln departs for a three-year refueling mission next year.

Murray and Larsen sent a letter this week to Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Gary Roughead urging them to dock a carrier at Naval Station Everett. They cite modern facilities, access to the Pacific Ocean and quality of life for sailors and their families as some of the advantages.

The Lincoln will be heading to Newport News, Va., sometime between October and December 2011, Murray’s office said Friday.
