Second man arrested for alleged kidnapping

EDMONDS — Edmonds police on Tuesday arrested a second man in connection with the Aug. 7 kidnapping of two women outside Top Foods.

The Marysville man, 21, was picked up when he went to check in with parole officers at the Department of Corrections office in south Everett.

Detectives thought they recognized the man from surveillance video taken during the alleged kidnapping, according to a police affidavit filed Wednesday in Everett District Court.

A woman, 19, and her sister were going into the grocery store just after midnight when three people charged them and forced them into a car, police said.

Witnesses led police to a nearby hotel where one man was arrested.

The man arrested Tuesday allegedly told police the woman had taken jewelry from an ex-boyfriend and that he didn’t know a kidnapping was planned, the court document said.

The man who was arrested Tuesday was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of second-degree kidnapping.
