Navy Seaman Timothy-John Llesis Piega recently completed basic training at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is the son of Ramiro and Joan Piega, and brother of Aaron and Camille Piega, all of Lake Stevens. Piega is a 2009 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.
Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Eric Young, a 1992 graduate of Edmonds-Woodway High School, is serving in Afghanistan alongside 800 fellow Marines attached to the 3rd Battalion 25th Marines, from Moundsville, W. Va.
Army Reserve Pfc. Cody Shipman has graduated from basic military training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga., under the Split Option Enlistment Program. The program allows high school students between their junior and senior year to attend and complete the Army National Guard or Reserve six-week basic training program during the summer of their junior year. He is the son of Dale Shipman of Arlington, and is a student at Weston High School, Arlington.
Army Pvt. Jesse Caravan has graduated from basic combat training and fire support specialist advanced individual training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of Megan and William Caravan of Freeland, and is a 2009 graduate of South Whidbey High School.
Coast Guard Seaman William Hicks, a 2006 graduate of Snohomish High School, has graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N. J., and was promoted to his current rank.
Navy Seaman Recruit Erika Contreras, daughter of Eliuth Blanton and sister of Benjamin Contreras of Sultan, recently completed basic training at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Contreras is a 2010 graduate of Monroe High School.
Navy Seaman Chelsi Tow, daughter of Wendi Tow of Oak Harbor and Timothy Tow, of Laurel, Md., has completed basic training at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Tow is a 2007 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.
