Show off cookie skills in contest

It’s time to get in the holiday spirit. How about a cookie contest?

J. Matheson Kitchen &Gourmet of Everett will host its annual holiday cookie contest from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at 2609 Colby Ave., Everett.

Categories, for noncommercial bakers only, will include family cookie recipes, bar cookies, incredibly easy cookies and death by chocolate. Entries will be judged on taste, appearance and consistency.

Participants must deliver two dozen cookies by 1 p.m. Plates should be labeled with a contestant name and phone number. Winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m.

One first-place winner will receive a $50 J. Matheson gift certificate. Runners-up will receive store merchandise.
