Benefit auction
A kare4kate fundraising benefit is planned for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at The Conway Muse, 18444 Spruce St. in Conway.
Kate Kypuros of Camano Island is recovering from brain surgery. She is the artistic director for META Performing Arts in Skagit, Island and Snohomish counties.

Lower flags: Gov. Chris Gregoire says to lower flags to half-staff Tuesday in memory of U.S. Army Corporal Brandon S. Hocking of Seattle. Hocking died March 21 of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Iraq.
Flags should remain at half-staff until the close of business Tuesday, or first thing Wednesday morning.
Camano Island gardens needed: A Backyard Wildlife Habitat Garden Tour is planned for June 25 on Camano Island.
They need gardens to show on the north end of the Island. They are looking for all types of gardens to demonstrate that any property can be a backyard wildlife habitat.
Don’t be concerned if your garden isn’t ready for the cover of Better Homes and Gardens. Gardens are works of progress.
