King’s hires Skeen as boys basketball coach

King’s High School announced Tuesday that Rick Skeen has been hired as the head boys basketball coach.

Skeen spent the past 11 years as the head coach at Burlington-Edison High School. Over the past five years, his teams averaged 21 wins per season.

Under Skeen’s direction, the Tigers

appeared in the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Class 2A state championship games. B-E placed fifth at state this past season.

“Like most schools, we were looking for a coach with a history of success, but at the same time a great role model who loves kids,” King’s assistant principal Jeff Geers said in a statement. “Rick is respected by his peers for his integrity, professionalism, humility and an insatiable work ethic. As a Christian school, we also appreciate Rick’s passion to integrate his personal faith and his professional leadership in the classroom and on the basketball court.”
