Focus on how we react to criminals

“Terrorism only works if you allow yourself to be terrorized.”

There was terrorism in the Americas since before Columbus arrived and there will be terrorism until humans change the paradigm of how we interact with each other. Terrorists come in all shapes, sizes, colors and creeds. The curren

t red carpet group happens to be the “Radical Jihadist” or whatever name you like to use. When they are gone, there will be another group rising up to take their place. What is important is not who they are, but how we react to them.

Most terrorists, of whatever type want to use violence to change our, “The American” way of life. When we change, even if it is to protect ourselves, they achieve a victory. Because we are terrorized, we give away our freedoms to protect ourselves. Many more lives are destroyed and/or lost each year due to intoxicated drivers than terrorists could ever hope to accomplish. While each life is precious, it must be put in perspective.

Terrorism is a crime and by using common crime prevention techniques at our businesses and in our personal lives we can greatly reduce to possibility of an incident occurring to us. Additionally, by following the “Three days, three ways” disaster preparedness plans we can be ready in case an incident does occur. All of this lessens the “terror” of the incident and turns a terrorist into a petty crook.
