A 13-percent drop in the U.S. peanut harvest means choosy mothers soon will be forced to choose more expensive peanut butter.
This is especially terrible news for parents of children who subsist on an all-peanut-butter diet, because they’re going to have to introduce their kids to a second food group — which, in the most intense cases of screaming fits, will likely be Kraft marshmallow creme.
Name brands: Liz Claiborne Inc. has sold off its namesake brand and will focus instead on brands aimed at chic, well-heeled customers.
We’re just glad that Liz Claiborne (1929-2007) isn’t around to see her name on T-shirts with “I’m With Stupid” printed on the front.
Sage advice: Investors should be extremely wary of investing in bankrupt companies such as Blockbuster, personal finance columnist Michelle Singletary says.
