BELLINGHAM — A Whatcom County Superior Court jury began deliberating Wednesday in a lawsuit in which lawyers are seeking $27 million from the city of Bellingham for a fall at a park that paralyzed a young woman.
Katti Hofstetter was 16 in 2005 when she slipped on a wet spot on a trail near a swimming area at Whatcom Falls Park and fractured her spine. She’s now 22 and confined to a wheelchair.
The Bellingham Herald reports jurors have to decide whether the city has immunity and whether it was negligent.
