Lawmakers are returning, and plenty of people will greet them

When state lawmakers arrive for their special session today, they will be welcomed by throngs of people opposed to them making further cuts in funding of schools, health care and human service programs.

At least seven separate events are planned on the Capitol Campus today. These include:

Home care workers will gather for the Jobs Not Cuts Rally on the Capitol steps starting at 10 a.m. It is sponsored by the Service Employees International Union Local 775.

They will be joining disabled individuals and their caregivers who plan to be out in force twice today with the message of Don’t Cut Our Lifelines. They plan a rally at 10 a.m. on the Capitol steps and a candlelight vigil from 7-9 pm.

Teachers and educators may bring the biggest crowd to the Capitol for a Rally for Public School Funding at noon.

And finally, forces aligned with Occupy Seattle and Occupy Olympia will be part of a People’s Special Session to be conducted all-day inside and outside the Capitol.
