Welcome return of summer planes

Published 3:42 pm Tuesday, June 18, 2013

The rattletraps are back! Living a few miles south of Paine Field, by choice, my three-year-old grandson and I enjoy the frequent opportunity to observe various aircraft landing or taking off. Saturday’s “fly day” included a B24 flying directly over our home. My 89-year-old father, with whom I spent Father’s Day, completed 49 combat missions in the Pacific Theater as a radio operator/waste gunner on B24s. What an appropriate event on Father’s Day weekend. We look forward to a summer of similar “flyovers.”
