What: Koelreuteria paniculata, or goldenrain tree, is a great mid-sized tree tolerant of tough urban conditions.
Why: Showy clusters of bright yellow flowers bloom in mid to late summer, followed by pinkish-red seedpods. No insect or disease problems are common to this tree.
Where: Goldenrain tree is best in full sun with well-drained soil, but it will tolerate sand or clay. It is drought tolerant once established. Very little pruning is needed to maintain this tree; remove dead and broken branches or any poorly formed limbs.
Size: Reaches a heights of 30 feet with a spread of 25 feet.
