2 people injured after being forced to jump from fire in Pierce Co.

LAKEWOOD — Two people were injured when they jumped from the second floor of a residential complex that went up in flames early Tuesday in Lakewood.

KOMO-TV reported two residents of the building were trapped on the second floor by the flames and had to jump to safety.

Fire officials with West Pierce Fire &Rescue say both are now hospitalized, one with burn injuries and the other with a back injury.

All other residents were able to get out of the building safely.

The building is now uninhabitable and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
